As a young believer in this day and age, I see a lot. Usually never saying anything, just observing and processing it all. I mean, it would be a bit tiring, not to mention foolish to speak on EVERYTHING you see.
Define Your Lifestyle
In this post, I’m gonna share with you guys just how to define your lifestyle and the many benefits! I think we all can get so inspired by what our eyes are attracted to in other people’s lives: their bodies, their homes, their fashion flair, their personality/mannerisms, even–but I always aim to encourage people to find their AUTHENTIC style for life.
For example, growing up, I was the cute girl that wasn’t girlie, lol. A tomboy that loved a fresh pair of sneaks– but my mama definitely made sure I still knew how to walk in heels, lol. So I was versatile–but the heart of me, preferred street styles. I went off to high school & college and my little circle of influence got super wide, super quickly! I was told I was “too pretty” to be wearing those sneakers, and could look so much better if I wore this color, or these shoes, or this really short skirt, lol. So, I tried it! And you know what, it was ok. I mean, I do enjoy a nice pair of heels, I am aware of my femininity, and I do like to switch things up sometimes.
But fast forward, over 10 years later. I’m now an older woman, fully confident of who I am, and what I’m about. #jesustaughtme .
And you know what happened? I wear sneakers almost every single day! Pretty much, I reverted back to what was the REAL me.
I think with age, and letting God show you yourself–free from social influence, we start to see that we’ve had glimpses of our authentic self our whole lives.
The Style of My Life
I call my style more tomboy chic, because I do wear feminine things when I’m feeling it, but I make it fit around my core style. My color palette is black, white, and neutrals. Basically, I have a minimalistic approach to my home, and I know exactly how I like my makeup. This is the style of my life!
Now, before it sounds like I got my life together: I dont, lol, and I must admit: It took me up until this year to find my (life)style! So if you haven’t, don’t be discouraged. It takes a whole lot of trial & error, reflection, and just plain ole’ patience to figure it out.
But once you do, life in every way will get a wee bit simpler, because you’ll know where you stand on almost anything concerning your image & life preferences. The simplicity alone will help you commit to it, because, well, who doesn’t like things not being so hard?! You can do it! And I think I can help:-)
Steps on HOW to Define Your LifeStyle
KNOW YOUR POWER COLORS
Okay, this is big one. What colors do you gravitate towards the most? Which colors make you feel both powerful and confident? I knew it was the neutrals palette for me–predominantly black, because black fits my personality.
Black is subtle, and understated, yet always makes a splash:-)
It’s both seen and unseen, it’s cool and low key, but still is taken seriously. What colors reflect your personality?
LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT
When I discovered my style in wardrobe & color palette, I went through my closet & tossed EVERYTHING that didn’t fit it. I was bout that life! lol. The thing is, you want to feel as amazing as possible every day, so go through your stuff, and purge it of stuff that doesn’t fit this new goal! You shouldn’t just feel okay about your image! Love the visual you put forth into the world, by making it subject to the style you’ve determined will help you do just that! Watch my Youtube Video that explores this tip and others like it, Here!
BONUS: I only buy new things that fit my lifestyle as well! No “maybe, it can go with this?” , or “It might look better with that?”, no, my goal is to: LOVE everything I purchase. Now this means you may buy things less frequently, but why be a collector of stuff you’re just ok with anyway?
SET THE MOOD
This is in reference to your home. I mentioned adopting a minimalistic life approach, and can I tell you, it’s been so dope! My color palette is the same in my home as my wardrobe–black/white/neutrals–but heavy on the white. It just gives me so much peace.
Figure out what kind of environment makes you feel good at home? Is it a lot of candles? Is it a lot of plants? Maybe a certain feel of rug you need to have in every room to feel comfortable? Whatever it is, get into more of that!
Numerous studies prove that having a clean home, promotes peace and more productivity. I was fortunately raised to be very cleanly, so this has always been in me, but if you have a history of, idk, “letting it all hang out” around your crib, stop that! lol.
Seriously, try decluttering your space, and having a bit more open air in your rooms. Defining a clean, bright, warm area for your lifestyle (home space) will help you get more done faster & easier! This will work wonders for your focus, peace, and all around quality of life at home.
In terms of hair & makeup–what look can you pull off that’s literally effortless? What looks can you do, where you know you’re not being too “try hardy“, you’re just, doing you? Somewhere in this world, is your go to look. Play around with it, and experiment. Wear it everyday for a week, and pay attention to how you feel.
LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE
Coming right in from the last point–listen to the people about this experiment! I don’t usually advise caring about what people say, lol, but in this case, we’re working on something, so it’s alright, lol. When you do that effortless look for a week straight, what are the people saying? Are they here for it?! Or better yet:
think of a look that you’ve always gotten compliments on, since like, forever! Go into this look, and see how to make it fit you now?
Are You Ready?
Okay loves, these were 6 super easy and basic tips to discover your authentic lifestyle! In conclusion, I really hope they were helpful to you, and and that you try them out! There’s nothing like feeling that extra bit of freedom every day, being confident in your image, and how you live your life.
Your lifestyle is a reflection of you–whether it’s your fashion, makeup/hair, or even home details. So take the time to actually get to know you, when defining all the details of those things. Don’t let it be over influenced by someone else’s style, NOBODY, can do it like you:-)
Until next time, bye lovaas💋

7 Instagram Creatives That Bless My Feed Daily
So, Instagram is my by far my favorite social media platform! It’s quick, easy, and a great source of visual inspiration. I love following so many different kinds of accounts, but my favorite types of pages are: home decor, beauty bloggers, fitness, and Christian lifestyles. But my favorite accounts out of those, has to be the blogger accounts! I love the young, fresh innovators in the world of lifestyle blogging. In this post I’m going to share with you 7 Instagram creatives that kill it!
Some of these content creators are ssssooo dope with the curation of their page & brand in general. I switch between the pages I stalk, I mean, keep up with, lol!
My favorite Instagram Pages Right Now
This girl just gets it! A Southern belle, like myself, (heeeeyyy ya’ll, lol!) Adrienne’s style is eclectic, subtle, and a beautiful curation of pink tones. Her vibe is artistic with a hint of 70s funkiness! Check it out for yourself, you’ll be glad you did:-)
Paula runs an AMAZING blog, called Thirteen Thoughts, that I recently started following. I cannot stop visiting this girl’s page, like…everyday, lol. She gives a wealth of information on photography, blogging as a business, and enhancing your lifestyle. Paula’s beauty pictures are gorgeous, and she takes some of the best product shots you’ll see in the blogging sphere. Hit her page for inspiration overload.
Like seriously?! As a fit geek, I have so many goals within the fitness community, and doing a powerlifting meet is one of them. Katie is 1 of the best powerlifters I’ve seen on Instagram, and she’s so stronggg! Like crazy strong. Like stupid strong!!! lol. If you THOUGHT you moved weight, please, check out this girl’s page, and prepare to be humbled! lol
Arnelle is a visual content creator, and travels the world to capture some of the most stunning images! She also partakes in philanthropic projects while she’s abroad. Arnelle recently did some work out in Rwanda that made me want to book a flight now and figure it out later, lol.
I’m a sucker for any non profit involving children, and she worked with the children in Kigali and the Humanity Unified Organization, while documenting it all on her Instagram!
Follow her page to see some of the most beautiful travel pics and be inspired by her contributions into the lives of others:-)
I’ve been a follower of Massy since she bore the name ‘Mankofit’ all over the net!
I relate to Massy probably the most out of all the fitness pages I follow. She started her journey from the same place as I, depression.
It is such an inspiration to see other people who have fought past mental barriers and strongholds through fitness and came out stronger than ever!
Check her out, if you love fitness accounts, she’s the b-o-m-b, promise:-)
Okay, this girl’s flatlays of her meals, are not even food. By the time she’s done curating the plate, it’s, ART! Seriously. I can’t even describe it, you just have to see her page for yourself, lol. I’ve never seen a food page so brilliantly designed and artistic. Usually foodies keep their aesthetic clean & white, not Ashley! The images are robust & highly contrasted, with dark backgrounds on almost all of them!
Ashley’s Insta page is truly unique, make sure to follow if you love looking at food:-) lol.
Noholita is a fresh, young , blogger & content creator, with a beautiful gray themed Instagram feed. Her images are so bright & vivid, with awesome fashion & street style shots. There aren’t any mountains or particularly over the top imagery on her page, lol, I just love looking at it. It’s very fashiony–but not unrelatable fashiony, does that make sense?
Noholita’s page is super fresh & chic, and if you like fashion blogs, you’d love it! Disclaimer: She doesn’t speak much English, but she’s so cool, I follow her anyway! lol.
Alright my loves, pplleeaase hit up all of these awesome pages, and tell me what you think!

Being ‘ Saved ‘ : A Privilege, Never a Burden
When I first saw this from one of my favorite entertainers, I felt this thing, that no one has been able to evoke inside of me since I read ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings’, by the late Maya Angelou. I don’t want to call it a feeling of acceptance, as I’ve never really needed that, but, let’s just call it, familiarity. A feeling that you’ve stumbled upon your tribe, a member of your spiritual clique, a soul that’s, well…. familiar.
Lauryn’s life, isn’t picture perfect, neither was Maya’s, but that’s what made the glory they gave God, so paramount. This truth is what makes them being, ” saved ” , as we say down south when referencing a life devoted to Jesus, such a powerful inspiration for the world.
Real Inspiration Through Celebrated People
Growing up in a small town, with big dreams, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, was my mini anthem. The book seriously changed my little world. Reading the book, and having knowledge of just what all Maya was able to go on and accomplish, I was inspired for life! I even shed real tears when she died, and I never do that for celebrities!
But this was different. Both Lauryn & Maya’s life were very public displays of God’s grace through celebrated people. The grace, man.
Grace from a perfect God to us, imperfect beings, is humbling, beautiful, and lifesaving (pun intended).
Jesus Over Everything
I’ve been a makeup artist for 8 years now, and let’s face it, my industry (entertainment/fashion/celebrity, etc.), isn’t exactly, the God serving type of industry, lol. I see a lot. I’ve experienced a lot too. But what’s refreshing and so dope, is artists like Lauryn. Artists who boldly profess their lives of seeking Jesus and trying to live in line with his teachings. It’s encouraging and necessary.
In an industry where you’re taught to be quiet about what you believe in–so as not to offend–she said, nah, playa, I serve God, lol. I can definitely relate😑
In March 2013, I fully embraced the scriptural direction of “being in this world, but not OF it”, and never looked back! I live a different lifestyle from most people my age, lol, and that’s okay. It is my hope though, that I can be an inspiring light to anyone wanting to know about the source of my light, Jesus Christ:-).
Serving God in Ungodly Places
Alexis Loves, is most certainly a creative space about beauty & fitness, but it’s also a lifestyle blog. And it’s literally impossible for me share the details of my lifestyle, and not share what governs it–living for Christ. So, no, I’m not about to turn this into a Christian blog, lol, but in my category labeled, ‘life’, it’s not uncommon to see posts like this pop up:-)
I post them not to force someone to live like me, but to inspire other young women who want to work in any industry, not particularly believer friendly, to not leave their morals at the door, to not conform, and to stand for what is important to them. It’s also to be honest and transparent about the true reason behind what I’ve acquired that is seemingly a level of “success”…
what you see is not me, because I’m so “great”, it’s Jesus. Forreal, forreal😊
All that to say, if you love beauty, fashion, fitness, and/or wants to be in the entertainment biz, know that it IS possible to serve God and still flourish in the gifts He’s given you–even in ungodly places.
You don’t have to conform to the world, nor do anything that you’re uncomfortable with to “make it”. Besides, “making it” is relative–success for you, may not be to the next person. But the opinion of success that matters the most, is God’s.
Young & Fly: But Taking Jesus With Me
I’m far from where I know I’ll be with my career and even my relationship with Christ. We’re all flawed beings, BUT, I am certain that every day I’m striving to be better & not make the same mistakes.
It’s a beautiful journey if you’re willing to be patient, humble, and teachable:-)
It’s not impossible to have the goal of righteous living and real life morals, because it violates your devotion to God. Trust me, you’ll be praised where & with whom it matters most! This life is not all there is, so stay motivated and encouraged each day that you’re blessed to even be alive!
And getting better everyday, ayyeee! lol.
In conclusion, count it not a burden to be DIFFERENT and live for God! You won’t lose 1 ounce of dopeness, 1 morsel of freshness, and yes, you will still be popping, Promise:-)
I hope this has encouraged any of you who are struggling with being transparent about your relationship with God while striving to make your dreams come true!
If you liked this post, as usual, give it share on your page, and thanks so much for reading!
Until next time, bye lovass💋
